Shortly after delivering a huge shocker by canceling their acclaimed show The Great, Hulu axed another hit series. The sequel series How I Met Your Father, led by Hilary Duff, has officially been canceled after two seasons.

Conceived as a spin-off of CBS’ beloved sitcom How I Met Your Mother, this series centered on a woman named Sophie Tompkins, telling her son the story of how she met his father, by focusing on the lives of her close-knit group of friends trying to navigate love and relationships during the 2020s.

In addition to Hilary Duff and Kim Cattrall as different versions of Sophie, How I Met Your Father also starred Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma. It also featured cameos from several stars of the original CBS series, including Cobie Smulders (as Robin Scherbatsky) and Neil Patrick Harris (as Barney Stinson).

Executive producer Craig Thomas confirmed the show’s cancelation on social media, and expressed gratitude to everyone who made it possible, “Thanks to the wonderful cast and crew who worked so hard on How I Met Your Father, and to all who checked it out, sometimes this is how it goes in this crazy business.”
