Idris Elba has set his eyes on his next project and he’ll do much more than just act. The British actor will play the lead role in the upcoming action-thriller Infernus, and he’s also set to direct and produce this exciting project.

Infernus will center on Donovan Kamara, a human rights activist who must embark on a deadly quest and come head-to-head with some of the world’s most dangerous inmates after being sent to investigate reports of refugees being illegally detained inside a black site prison.

Elba said that he’s excited to be back in the director’s chair and explore the relevant and intimate human story at the core of this gripping thriller.

“I’m really looking forward to this opportunity both in front and behind the camera, filming across Europe, as well as bringing our production to Africa, which has an emerging film community that we are proud to be supporting,” said Ebra in a statement.

This won’t mark the actor’s first attempt at directing a feature film. He made his directorial debut with the crime drama Yardie, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018. He’s currently attached to several exciting projects as an actor, including Amazon’s Heads Of State co-starring John Cena and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
