Netflix has ordered a new season of “Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons.”

The streaming service acquired the earlier version of the show, which takes a look inside the world’s most infamous prisons. They then initiated talks with the producers of the series about how to create new episodes as a Netflix original.

Raphael Rowe, that served 12 years in a high-security UK prison for a murder that he did not commit, has been added as a new presenter on the show. In the four-part episode, he will go inside each prison for a week, sharing a cell with real-life inmates and going about daily prison life. The prisons that he enters are in Brazil, Papua New Guinea, Ukraine, and Belize.

“Going back inside to film this series was one of the most challenging decisions I’ve made,” Rowe said. “Taking on the persona of a prisoner in order to immerse myself in the daily life and routine of convicted criminals and the conditions they are held in around the world was dangerous. The conditions in these prisons are so tough for very different reasons, and the prisoners we spoke to offer an insight that is both captivating and chilling.”
