Jack Black has shared what it was like working with his “idol” Jack White.

Black and White already sound like a duo that was meant to be. Black is best known for his leading role in School of Rock but he has been making music alongside his acting career for years. Most famously, he wrote music and performed with the film band Tenacious D.

Jack White, on the other hand, is one half of The White Stripes. He has since established a successful solo career and has been named as one of the most influential guitarists of recent times. He is the founder of Third Man Records and over summer, Black visited the studios HQ to record the latest Tenacious D album.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, Black shared his experience working with White. “We got a rock opera, Post-Apocalypto, and we toured all around the world. We even stopped off in Nashville and we got a call from Jack White,” he said. “He was like, ‘Hey, if you’re comin’ through, why don’t you come by and record a lil somethin’ at my home studio.'”

“And we were like, ‘Yes, we can’t say no to that’, ’cause he’s a legend. He’s my idol. I love Jack White.”

Black also gave viewers a clue into what the studio is like. He said: “Every room has been, like, meticulously curated with magic and humor and weirdness…literally every square inch of that place has a moment of magic.”
