Many major blockbusters had to shift their release dates in the face of labor strikes in Hollywood, but Superman Legacy won’t be one of them. James Gunn recently discussed the film’s future and confirmed it’s still on track for the 2025 release date.

Gunn celebrated the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike with a post on the social media platform Threads and said that Superman Legacy is still slated for its originally planned release date: July 11, 2025.

“Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career,” wrote Gunn.

Superman: Legacy will see Clark Kent trying to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing in Smallville, Kansas. Peter Safran, who serves as the co-CEO of DC Studios alongside James Gunn described Superman in the film as “the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way.”

Superman Legacy will star David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, while Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi are expected to join them in supporting roles.
