James Gunn: “Guardians of the Galaxy 3,” “Suicide Squad” Won’t be Delayed

Delays of highly-anticipated movies and TV shows are inevitable in the current climate, but that won’t be happening to James Gunn’s upcoming projects. According to the director, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Suicide Squad will be sticking to their release dates.

Gunn told his fans on Twitter that he’s still planning to release The Suicide Squad on August 6th, 2021 and that the editing process has been pretty smooth so far.

“Right now there’s no reason for #TheSuicideSquad release date to move. We are on or ahead of schedule. We were extremely fortunate to wrap shooting & set up editing from our homes (due to a post-production team & studio with foresight) before quarantine,” wrote the director.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still doesn’t have an official release date, but Gunn said that his plans for this movie are “exactly the same as they were before coronavirus”. Disney recently shifted release dates for several Marvel Phase 4 projects, but they still haven’t assigned a date to the next Guardians film.

He later added that while plans for both films hadn’t changed so far, it’s not completely his call.
