Shortly after sharing an encouraging update about his health following a major medical emergency, Jamie Foxx is ready to go back to acting. The Oscar winner will play God in the upcoming comedy Not Another Church Movie alongside Mickey Rourke.

Not Another Church Movie centers on an ambitious young man Taylor Pharry (Kevin Daniels), who’s been given a holy mission from God to inspire his community by telling his family’s stories. After embarking on this mission, he comes to learn that the Devil (Rourke) has a plan of his own.

James Michael Cummings, who serves as one of the film’s producers, said it’s a true blessing to welcome the talent of Foxx’s caliber on board.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Foxx be a part of this hilarious comedy and bring his incredible talent to the role of God. This film is a unique blend of new and established talent, and we can’t wait to hear the laughs and for audiences to see the magic that happens on the big screen,” said Cummings in a statement to Deadline.

Vivica A. Fox, Tisha Campbell, Jasmine Guy, Kyla Pratt, and Lamorne Morris also star in Not Another Church Movie, while Johnny Mack will be in charge of directing it.
