2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 saw Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man facing Jamie Foxx as the villain Electro. At the end of the movie, Electro was shocked to death, but apparently, not even this could stop him from coming back to hunt the webslinger.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Foxx is in final talks to reprise his role in the next installment of Spider-Man. The movie is produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures and is set for a November 5th, 2021 release (although we may expect delays, of course).

The yet-untitled movie will see  Tom Holland coming back to the role of Spider-man as well as most of the supporting cast such as Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revolori returning to the project. Homecoming and Far from Home director Jon Watts is also helming this movie. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing.

The idea of merging the current run of Spider-Man movies with the former versions by having actors reprise their roles is not new. The last movie, Far From Home, brought J.K. Simmons back to the role of J. Jonah Jameson, a part he also played in the Toby Maguire’ Spider-Man trilogy. The move was applauded by the fans.
