Jamie Foxx will direct When We Pray, a faith-based drama.

The Oscar-winning actor co-wrote the script with Donald Ray “Speedy” Caldwell and this film will be Foxx’s second time directing a film—his first was All-Star Weekend.

When We Pray tells the story of two brothers who are pastors at different churches in the same community. One of the brother’s churches is a high-tech congregation that has digital devices and ATMs, while the other brother’s church is much more humble and he suffers financially to keep it running.

Production is set to start before the end of the year.

Foxx’s most recent Hollywood credit is starring in Just Mercy with Michael B. Jordan and Brie Larson. His next role will be in Disney/Pixar’s first Black character-led animation film, Soul, which will be released on June 19.
