Grace and Frankie may be coming to an end, but Netflix is plotting another sitcom that celebrates the ups and downs of golden years. It will star Cyndi Lauper and Jane Lynch, who described it as a “Golden Girls for today”.

The Glee star teased this show during the recent Creative Arts Emmy Awards, where she won another trophy for her guest role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. This is Lynch’s fifth Emmy to date – she previously won one for starring in Glee and Dropping the Soap and additional two for hosting Hollywood Game Night.

While discussing her upcoming Netflix show, also starring Cyndi Lauper, Jane Lynch described it by saying, “We’re our ages now. I’m almost 60, and she’s 65. We’re looking for our next act and we haven’t had children.” She didn’t spill any more details, apart from comparing her next project to the iconic sitcom Golden Girls.

We can’t wait to learn more about this promising series. Meantime, Deadline reports it’s created by Stephen Engel and Carol Leifer and set to be produced by Skydance Television, which previously gave us Grace and Frankie.
