Janelle Monáe gave us one of the most ground-breaking albums of 2018 with Dirty Computer. Each of the singles she dropped in the last few months was a smash hit, and her Zoë Kravitz collaboration Screwed is no exception.
The music video for this catchy tune is here, and it’s Janelle Monáe at her best. She used every song on Dirty Computer to tackle important social issues and didn’t abandon her musical commentary in Screwed.
The colorful visual for this song shows Monáe waking up on a rooftop after a crazy night with a group of friends, running away after spotting a security drone, and ending up in an underground party. They are also shown watching footage of current social issues before one of the characters is taken away by masked security officers.
Tessa Thompson already appeared in a couple of Monáe’s videos so it isn’t a surprise to see her come back again. This video also featurs a cameo from Zoë Kravitz, who also provided guest vocals on this track.
