Jared Leto is one of the actors who had the honor of portraying Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime, and he would be willing to do it all over again. In a recent interview with Variety, the Oscar-winning actor said he’s open to the possibility of playing the Joker again.

Leto played the Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad before Joaquin Phoenix took over the role and won an Oscar for his take on this iconic character in Todd Phillips’ Joker. Since there’s no connection between these projects, it’s not surprising to hear that Leto wouldn’t mind returning to the role if given the chance.

“It’s hard to say no to that character. There are a very few characters that you play that have absolutely no rules, you know, that you could just go to town with and it’s so much fun. I had a lot of fun with that character,” he explained during an appearance on Variety‘s “Awards Circuit” podcast.

Leto didn’t reprise the role of Joker in the Harley Quinn spin-off Birds of Prey, and he won’t return in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad sequel. He’s expected to appear as the Joker in Zack Snyder’s new cut of Justice League, set to be released as a mini-series on HBO Max.
