Jason Momoa spent almost a decade playing Aquaman, and he’s finally ready to wave this character goodbye. He addressed his future in the DCU following the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and said it’s most likely his last time playing this superhero.

Momoa recently attended a fan event at The Grove in Los Angeles alongside the director James Wan. He addressed the audience in a somber tone and revealed he was ready to leave this character behind.

“This might be the last time we’re up on the stage together, it’s been a long journey. It’s been 12 years playing this character, the longest I ever played a character through so much,” said Momoa.

This statement comes shortly after Momoa told Entertainment Tonight that his future in the DCU isn’t looking good, but there’s a possibility he’d return if the audience loves the last film in the franchise.

The DC boss Peter Safran also discussed his future with The Independent and said that Momoa will always have a home at Warner Bros. and DC, regardless of what happens to Aquaman.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hit the theatres on December 22 and is projected to gross around $40 million during its opening weekend.
