Jason Momoa has already shown his prowess on horse riding in Game of Thrones and swimming in Aquaman. Now he is getting cred in a new field—the bass guitar. After showing off a cover for Red Hot Chili Pepper’s version to Stevie Wonder’s Higher Ground, the actor paid a visit to Les Claypool and got a nice bass lesson.

Both the actor and Primus’ frontman/bassist used Instagram to show off their hanging out together. Claypool, who wrote they had “a grand ol’ time” in his winery, posted among other things a video of him teaching Momoa to play the bass line of My Name Is Mud. Momoa is shown saying “I need this s** in my life!” to the camera. Another video shows the duo jamming together with Momoa on the bass and Claypool on the drums. The bass guitar Momoa used is a fender given to him for his 41 birthday.

Momoa has shown his appreciation for rock and metal music for some time now. Last month he shared with his fans a first look on his copy of Metallica’s S&M2 box set. “If you’re a Metallica fan, you’re a Jason Momoa fan. If you’re a Jason Momoa fan, you’re a Metallica fan,” he wrote.
