The story of Jeff Buckley’s life, career, and death, is coming to the big screen. The biopic centered on the late “Mojo Pin” singer has been officially confirmed by his estate and will enter production later this year.

The movie, titled Everybody Here Wants You, stars Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful) in the lead role while Orian Williams is set to direct. This will be Williams’ directorial debut, although he already has experience working on music biopics serving as a producer on Joy Division’s Control.

Everybody Here Wants You has the backing of Buckley’s mother Mary Guibert, who will co-produce the film.

Guibert released a statement after the biopic was confirmed, promising the fans that the feature will be “the only official dramatization” of Buckley’s story and will remain “true to him and his legacy.”

“Thankfully, my determination to assemble all the right participants, no matter how long it took, is about to culminate in the best way possible,” Guibert added.

Jeff Buckley started his music career as a successful session musician before deciding to focus on his own material. He released his debut album Grace in 1994 to widespread critical acclaim.

Buckley died in 1997 as a result of a swimming accident. He was working on his second album, My Sweetheart the Drunk, at the time.
