The second season of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday will finally start shooting this year, and Jenna Ortega is as excited about it as the rest of us. The Emmy-nominated actress dropped some hints about Season 2, revealing it will lean more into horror and be more action-packed.

Ortega was in attendance at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night, after receiving her first Emmy nod for her work on Wednesday. She did an interview with Laverne Cox with E! on the red carpet and revealed what we can expect from the show’s second season.

“I’ve received some scripts now for the second season, and we’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror. It’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show [Wednesday] never really changes and that’s what’s wonderful about her,” said Ortega.

She also added that the upcoming season will be more action-packed and that each episode will “feel a little bit more like a movie.” The second season will still heavily lean into comedy, and Ortega said there are “some really good one-liners” in the script.

Season 2 will start shooting in Ireland this April, and Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Emma Myers, Moosa Mostafa, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Fred Armisen are expected to reprise their roles alongside Ortega.
