The sequel to the spooky 80s classic Beetlejuice is on the way, and its cast is shaping up to be pretty amazing. Jenna Ortega is eying a role in this exciting project, which would reunite her with the Wednesday director and executive producer Tim Burton.

Ortega is still in early talks to star in this project, but she would play the daughter of Winona Ryder’s character Lydia. It’s also been reported that Michael Keaton and Ryder are expected to reprise their roles, but they’re yet to officially confirm their return in this highly-anticipated sequel.

The original Beetlejuice movie premiered in 1988, and it centered on the ghosts of a recently deceased couple, who hired a malicious spirit Beetlejuice to scare away an unbearable family that moved into their old home. In addition to Keaton and Ryder, the film also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jones, and Catherine O’Hara, but it’s unclear if any of them would return for the sequel.

If Ortega’s casting pans out, this would mark her second collaboration with Tim Burton, following the success of the Netflix series Wednesday. She currently stars in Scream VI and has several more films on the way, in addition to being attached to Season 2 of Wednesday.
