Often, artists, musicians, and actors need to take a break from their busy day-to-day work in order to rest or devote their attention to hobbies and/or extracurricular activities outside of their career.

During an interview on Thursday with Entertainment Tonight, theĀ  Red Sparrow actress announced that she plans onĀ taking a year off from acting in films.

Lawrence wants to work with an organization called Represent.Us,Ā a non-profit organization whose mission is to ā€œto pass tough anti-corruption laws in cities and states across America, and end the legalized corruption that has come to define modern politics.ā€ Lawrence toldĀ Entertainment TonightĀ that “It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan [politics].” This specific move aligns with Lawrence’s past initiatives including her involvement in The Women’s March and being a voice for the women of Hollywood; advocating for equal and fair pay for both women and men in the film industry.

However, according to her representative, Lawrence will still be acting in films throughout the year. In an interview withĀ Entertainment Weekly,Ā Lawrence’s representative stated that she “will return to work when one of [her] several projects in development is ready to go.”

In the meantime,Ā Red SparrowĀ hits theaters March 2, 2018.
