Jennifer Lopez is a woman of many talents, but it’s been a long time since we’ve seen her in a major motion picture. That’s about to change very soon, and her next movie seems like a real treat. Multi-talented artist has been cast in The Hustlers, tale of a crew of former strip club employees seeking revenge.
The film is inspired by Jessica Pressler’s New York magazine article titled The Hustlers at Scores. It’s a modern-day Robin Hood tale about a group of women who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. Lopez will play the ringleader of the group and also serve as the executive producer.
Annapurna Pictures is in charge of developing the upcoming project, directed by Lorene Scafaria. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World helmer described it as an empathetic look at women and men. It’s exploration of gender roles, “what we’re valued for, what we’ve been told is our value in every movie, TV show, every corner of culture”, according to Scafaria.
“The rules of the club are the rules of the world. There is no other actor who could embody this raw and dynamic character with such complexity, humanity, and intelligence. It’s always been her. She’s f***ing Jennifer Lopez.” said the director.
