Jennifer Lopez recently signed a first-look deal with Netflix, and she’s ready to get to work. The Golden Globe-nominated star is set to take on the lead role in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Atlas.
According to its official synopsis, Atlas is set in the distant future where an AI soldier has determined the only way to end wars is to end humanity. It centers on the adventures of a woman named Atlas who joins forces with another AI in an attempt to save humanity.
Atlas is set to be directed by Brad Peyton, who can’t wait to join forces with Lopez, who’ll also be in charge of producing the movie in addition to playing the lead role. “Having the chance to direct Jennifer in the title role of this movie is a dream come true, as I know she’ll bring the incredible strength, depth, and authenticity we’ve all come to admire from her work,” said Peyton in a statement.
Atlas is just one of several big-screen projects that Lopez currently has in development. Her musical rom-com Marry Me is coming out early next year, and she’s also soon set to star in action-comedy Shotgun Wedding and crime drama The Godmother.
