Jennifer Lopez Romantic Comedy “Marry Me” Delays Release Date

The theatrical release of Jennifer Lopez’s romantic comedy about the unlikely relationship between a pop star and math teacher, is the latest film to be pushed back. 

Multiple outlets report that that Marry Me, which was originally scheduled to premiere ahead of Valentine’s Day on February 12, 2021. Now, after a three months delay, the Universal feature is set to open on May 14.

Marry Me will be taking the slot of Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s Spirit Untamed, which has been pushed back to June 4, 2021.

Per Variety, Lopez portrays a music superstar who marries a complete stranger, played by Owen Wilson during one of her concerts after finding out that her partner (musician Maluma) is cheating on her. Also starring in the film are Sarah Silverman, Jameela Jamil, and Jimmy Fallon.

Marry Me was directed by Kat Coiro, from a script penned by John Rogers, based on a novel by Bobby Crosby. Coiro’s credits include It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Netflix’s Dead to Me.
