Jesse Eisenberg is pushing boundaries with each new role he takes, and he’ll do the same with his next project Manodrome. The Oscar-nominated star has been cast as the lead in this intriguing thriller, also set to star Adrien Brody and Riley Keough.

According to its official logline, Manodrome is a “nihilistic thriller” and it centers on “an Uber driver and aspiring bodybuilder who is inducted into a libertarian masculinity cult and loses his grip on reality when his repressed desires are awakened.”

Manodrome will mark the English-language debut of the South African director John Trengrove. His previous film The Wound screened at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017, and it was selected as the South African entry for the best foreign-language film at the Academy Awards.

Eisenberg most recently reprised his role as Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. We’ll soon get to see him in the indie thriller Wild Indian, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this winter. He’s also set to play the French painter Theodore Gericault in the period drama The Medusa.
