Oscar nominee David Mamet is bringing his next film Assassination to Cannes and its cast is star-studded as it gets. Al Pacino, Viggo Mortensen, and John Travolta will lead the star-studded ensemble of the gripping thriller centered around John F. Kennedy’s murder.

In addition to Pacino, Mortensen, and Travolta, this film will also star Shia LaBeouf (Honey Boy), Rebecca Pidgeon (Heist), and Courtney Love (The People vs. Larry Flynt). On top of directing the film, Mamet also co-wrote the script with Nicholas Celozzi, and the production will kick off in Vancouver, Canada this fall.

Assassination will retell the story of John F. Kennedy’s murder from the mob’s point of view, shifting the focus to the Chicago mob kingpin Sam Giancana. Conspiracy theorists often speculated he was the one who ordered JFK’s assassination as payback for trying to undermine the mob.

Arclight Films’ chairman Gary Hamilton described this film as an absolutely fantastic project, brilliantly crafted by Mamet.

Assassination is a riveting and gripping thriller set in a pivotal period in American history… With the undeniable talent of David Mamet at the helm and our stellar cast led by Viggo Mortensen, Al Pacino, Shia LaBeouf, and John Travolta, the stars have truly aligned,” said Hamilton.
