Could late night be losing one of its regulars?

For the past two decades, night owls, insomniacs, and those who enjoy watching celebrities tell embarrassing stories about themselves have been kept company each night by Jimmy Kimmel.

The comedian began his late-night hosting gig in 2003, with Jimmy Kimmel Live! holding the title of the longest-running late-night talk show on ABC. Yet, that could possibly be coming to an end.

In 2019, the 54-year-old comedian renewed his contract with the network until 2023. With half of 2022 already behind us, Kimmel has admitted that he’s considering whether to leave his show behind, too.

“I wish I knew I was gonna do,” he told Variety. “I have moments where I go, ‘I cannot do this anymore.’ And I have moments where I go, ‘What am I gonna do with my life if I’m not doing this anymore?’ It’s a very complicated thing. And there are practical considerations, and there are family and friend considerations and co-worker considerations.”

Kimmel has been open about his 5-year-old son having been born with a rare congenital heart defect. In 2020, he also took a three-month hiatus during which guest hosts filled the hot seat.

“Eventually, I am going to have to stop doing this,” stated the three-time Oscar host. “I’m not going to do this forever. I would not be honest at all if I said that I have decided one way or the other. I’m thinking about it a lot, though.”

If Kimmel does decide to opt for an earlier bedtime, we have a feeling that Matt Damon won’t be too upset…
