Jodie Turner-Smith got her big break with Queen & Slim, and she has just been tapped for a role in another exciting project. The British actress has been cast as the lead in the upcoming prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin.

This fantasy drama takes place 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher, and it serves as the origin story of the first Witchers that roamed the world. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who created the original series, will executive produce the prequel with Declan de Barra serving as showrunner.

Turner-Smith has been cast in the role of Éile, described as “an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, who has left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician” before a grand reckoning forced her to return to her old life and embark on a quest for vengeance and redemption.

The rising British star got her big break with her role in the critically acclaimed road-trip drama Queen & Slim. She’s currently attached to several more projects, including a historical Channel 5 drama that will see her taking on the role of Anne Boleyn.
