John Boyega will be reprising his breakout role as Moses in the sequel to 2011’s Attack the Block and he’ll be reuniting with filmmaker Joe Cornish, who wrote and directed the film.

The sequel is currently in early stages of development and plot details are being kept under wraps.

Attack the Block follows a teenage street gang led by Boyega’s Moses, that has to defend themselves against aliens.

When Boyega was cast in Attack the Block he was relatively unknown. Boyega is best known for the Star Wars sequel trilogy, in which he played ex-stormtrooper Finn.

The film was the directorial debut of Cornish, who later co-wrote Ant-Man and helmed The Kid Who Would Be King. Attack the Block flopped at the box office, but gained cult status.

Boyega posted the news on Instagram, saying he’s “bloody excited”.

“It’s been a decade since ‘Attack The Block’ was released and so much has changed since then,” Boyega said in a statement to Variety. “I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favorite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honor.”
