John Cusack Isn’t So Certain About the “High Fidelity” Adaptation

John Cusack and Jack Black in "High Fidelity"

John Cusack doesn’t have high hopes for the TV adaptation of High Fidelity.

The Singularity actor starred as record store owner, Rob Gordon, in the 2000 film based on the novel by Nick Hornby.

The dramedy is now about to get new life as a television series written by Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka who brought us Ugly Betty.

Something else the pair are doing is changing the lead character to a woman.

The 51-year-old is harbouring doubts about the project as expressed on Twitter when asked about his thoughts.

Not mincing his words, John believes that if Nick Hornby is not involved (which so far he doesn’t seem to be), “it’ll suck”.

Original screenwriter, Scott Rosenberg, has signed on to the series which will form part of Disney’s new streaming service.

There’s no word yet on who will make-up the cast of the show or — more importantly — the music.
