John Cusack has just landed a series regular role, his first starring role in a TV series.

Best known for his roles on movies such as Say Anything, High Fidelity, Being John Malkovich and more, the 52-year-old is making his move to the small screen

Cusack will play Dr. Kevin Christie in the adaptation of the British drama opposite previously announced Sasha Lane and Rainn Wilson for Amazon.

Utopia centers on a group of young adults who meet online that are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come into possession of a near-mythical cult underground graphic novel. Within the comic’s pages, they discover the conspiracy theories that may actually be real and are forced into the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world.

Dr. Kevin Christie is described as a charismatic, media-savvy and brilliant biotech mind who wants to change the world through science. Wilson will play Michael Stearns and Lane is set to portray Jessica Hyde.

Amazon put in a straight-to-series nine-episode first season order back in 2018.
