John Stamos will continue to preach his basketball wisdom at Disney+ for at least one more season. The streamer recently announced that the Stamos-starred sports comedy Big Shot had been renewed for season two. Production of the new episodes is expected to start at some point in 2022 according to Deadline.
Stamos confirmed the news on his social media with a clip that shows him trying to make a “big shot” and repeatedly failing.
Big Shot comes from Doogie Howser, M.D creator David E. Kelley and focuses on college basketball coach Marvyn Korn (Stamos), who suddenly loses his job. He unexpectedly gets a chance to rebuild his reputation after an elite private high school for girls offers him a coaching position. Korn quickly realizes that his old methods are not working in this new setting, and in order to get results he has to change his approach.
The series also stars Jessalyn Gilsig as Holly Barrett; Korn’s assistant coach and Biology teacher at the school. The rest of the cast includes Yvette Nicole Brown, Richard Robichaux, Sophia Mitri Schloss, Tiana Le, and Monique Green.
The first season of Big Shot premiered in April and consisted out of 10 episodes. The initial reactions to the show were positive, with critics praising the strong acting performances and engaging plot.
