There was a lot of anticipation leading up to John Wick: Chapter 4, and its box office numbers reflect the hype. The latest installment in this action series collected a total of $137.5 million globally, setting a new franchise record in its wake.

John Wick 4 left the competition in the dust, grossing $73.5 million in the United States and Canada, and an additional $64 million in other territories. In addition to topping the box office, John Wick 4 scored the best opening weekend of the franchise and the best opening for any R-rated film since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fourth installment in the John Wick franchise sees the titular hero uncovers a path to defeating the High Table, but he must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances before he can earn his freedom.

Keanu Reeves returns in the lead role, with Chad Stahelski serving as the director. The film’s supporting cast includes Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick.

Lionsgate is currently plotting the fifth John Wick movie, and Reeves said he wants to continue making sequels as long as they’re successful. Two spin-offs are also in development—the limited series The Continental and the film Ballerina starring Ana de Armas.
