Jared Leto isn’t done with portraying The Clown Prince of Crime. According to Variety and The Hollywood Report, Warner Bros. is working on Joker standalone movie with Leto being attached to star and executive produce the project. The plot details remain unknown with the studio currently looking for a writer and a director.

This Joker standalone will feature the version of the character we had the opportunity to see in 2016’s Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer. One more Joker related project set in Suicide Squad universe is being developed by Warner Bros. and will see Leto and Margot Robbie teaming up for Joker and Harley Quinn movie.

Besides these two movies, Jared Leto is expected to reprise the role in various other projects based on the DC Comics’ villains and antiheroes. Warner Bros. is already working on Suicide Squad sequel with Gavin O’Connor serving as a writer and director alongside Harley Quinn standalone movie and Gotham City Sirens feature.

Reportedly, Leto’s Joker standalone movie won’t affect the Joker origin movie that was announced in August 2017, which will be separate from the DC Extended Universe. Todd Phillips will serve as a director for the project and will co-write the movie with Scott Silver while Martin Scorsese joins as co-producer. In February 2018, it was revealed that Joaquin Phoenix is the frontrunner to play the titular character in the movie.
