Multiple outlets report that Joseph Mawle has been cast in the forthcoming Lord of the Rings series.

According to sources, the actor best known for his role as Benjen Stark on HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones is set to star in the highly-anticipated scripted drama from Amazon. Despite Amazon declining to comment and all official details of the casting kept under the utmost secrecy, Mawle will reportedly be playing a villain named Oren.

Mawle joins previously announced Will Poulter and Markella Kavenagh.

The straight-to-series project is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic fantasy novels. It is set in Middle-Earth’s Second Age. J.A. Bayona is set to direct the first two episodes from writers Gennifer Hutchison (Breaking Bad), Jason Cahill (The Sopranos) and Justin Doble (Stranger Things). The three also double up as executive producers alongside Bayona as well as Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly, and Sharon Tal Yguado.

Deadline was first to report the news.
