Bridgerton simply wouldn’t be the same without Dame Julie Andrews borrowing her iconic voice to the show’s mysterious narrator Lady Whistledown. She recently set down with Today to spill the tea about the beloved show and shared one interesting detail about the cast that we never saw coming.

The legendary actress, best known for her roles in Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, discussed some of her past and future projects during a recent appearance on Today. She took a moment to reflect on her role on Bridgerton and revealed she never had a chance to meet the cast in person.

“Shonda Rhimes and the whole gang… They’re terrific. It’s a joy and I’m thrilled that they asked me. But I’ve never met the company in person. Of course, I see them on the show sometimes. But I do all my own recording far, far away from them,” said Andrews.

This is a perfect example of life imitating art because most Bridgerton characters don’t know who Lady Whistledown truly is – even though she’s hiding in plain sight. This popular period drama premiered on Netflix in 2020 to great success, and its recently released second season had the highest opening for any English-language Netflix series before its record was broken by Season 4 of Stranger Things.
