Kaley Cuoco has already given us one dark comedic thriller series with The Flight Attendant and she’s getting ready to star in another one. The Emmy-nominated actress is set to lead Peacock’s upcoming series Based On a True Story.

Written by Craig Rosenberg, the Emmy-nominated executive producer of The Boys, this project will tell the tale of a realtor, a plumber, and former tennis, whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime and murder.

According to Deadline, Cuoco will play the realtor Ava Bartlett, and she’s already committed to two seasons of the show. This leaves the future of The Flight Attendant hanging by a thread since HBO Max is yet to renew it for Season 3, but Cuoco could come back if the right premise comes along.

Cuoco recently received her second Emmy nomination for her role in The Flight Attendant and she has several exciting projects on the way. She’ll star alongside Pete Davidson in rom-com Meet Cute and lead the upcoming thriller Role Play, both set to come out next year.

Based On a True Story joins Peacock’s growing roaster of true crime-inspired shows. Dr. Death premiered earlier this year and it’ll soon be followed by the highly-anticipated Joe v. Carole, about Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin.
