We can count on Kanye West to hit no. 1 with each new album he shares with the world, and his latest record was no exception. The hip-hop icon managed to create so much buzz with Donda that it easily debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with the largest week of 2021 so far.

Donda reached the top spot with 309,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. during its first week on the chart, consisting of 272,000 streaming-equivalent album units and 37,000 pure album sales. By doing so, West’s latest album suppressed the previous 2021 record held by Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour with 295,000 units during its debut week.

To make the whole thing even better, Donda is West’s tenth no. 1 studio album on the Billboard 200, and he’s only one of seven artists to achieve this milestone. The list also includes The Beatles (19), Jay-Z (14), Bruce Springsteen (11), Barbra Streisand (11), Eminem (10), and Elvis Presley (10). Drake will most likely join them soon with Certified Lover Boy.

Donda hit the shelves on August 29th and had one of the biggest debuts on Spotify and Apple Music. It includes collaborations with several A-list artists, such as Lil Baby, The Weeknd, Jay-Z, and Travis Scott.
