Kate Winslet gave us one of her best projects in recent memory with the HBO crime drama Mare of Easttown, and she’s coming back for another one. The two-time Emmy-winning actress is set to star in the limited series based on Hernan Diaz’s bestselling novel Trust.

Trust centers on a wealthy financier, who asks his secretary to ghostwrite his memoir after a novel based on his life presents him and his wife in a negative light. As she embarks on this journey, she comes to realize she’s rewriting history – and his wife’s place in it.

Trust has been described as “an unparalleled novel about money, power, intimacy, and perception” and its author Hernan Diaz is coming on board as one of the executive producers. Winslet is also producing the project, which is currently in the early stages of development, as HBO looks for a writer to adapt the book for the screen.

Winslet is no stranger to collaboration with HBO, and she won two Primetime Emmy Awards for her performances in the network’s mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011) and Mare of Easttown (2021). We’ll get to see her in James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water later this year and she’s also attached to the upcoming Lee Miller biopic opposite Jude Law.
