The story of Frankenstein has been inspiring filmmakers for decades, and another modern-day take based on this story is just around the corner. The first trailer for Lisa Frankenstein is here, and it stars Kathryn Newton as a lonely teen who falls in love with a long-dead guy.

The official synopsis describes Lisa Frankenstein as a “coming of RAGE love story” about a misunderstood teenager Lisa (Kathryn Newton) and her high school crush (Cole Sprouse), who happens to be a handsome corpse.

Lisa is overjoyed after a set of playfully horrific circumstances leads to her dead beau being brought back to life, and the unusual couple embarks on a murderous journey to find love, happiness…and a few missing body parts along the way.

Lisa Frankenstein was written by the Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody, whose credits include Juno, Jennifer’s Body, Young Adult, and Tully. Robin Williams’s daughter Zelda Williams was in charge of directing it in her feature-length debut.

In addition to Newton and Sprouse, this horror comedy will also star Liza Soberano, Carla Gugino, Joe Chrest, and Henry Eikenberry. It will be released by Focus Features on February 9, 2024, just in time for Valentine’s Day!
