Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel spent an entire decade being compared to each other, and they’re finally ready to laugh about it. Perry used her latest music video for “Not the End of the World” to address her resemblance to the famous actress in the most hilarious way possible.
The extraterrestrial video opens with a group of aliens trying to save Katy Perry from Earth’s impending destruction, only to end up abducting Zooey Deschanel in her place. The New Girl actress decides to play along and impersonate Perry in an elaborate plot to save Earth from doom.
The two stars discussed their uncanny resemblance in an Instagram live, which lead to some interesting revelations. Perry admitted she even used it to her advantage and pretended to be Deschanel so she could get into exclusive L.A. clubs before becoming a huge star herself.
“Not the End of the World” serves as the third official single from Perry’s latest studio album Smile, which came out this summer. It peaked at no. 5 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and produced hit singles “Daisies” and “Never Really Over”.
