Katy Perry gave us countless global hits over the course of her two-decades-long career—and they now belong to Litmus Music. She sold her back catalog to the Carlyle-backed company for the reported sum of $225 million.

Litmus acquired Perry’s stake in the master recording royalties and music publishing rights to her five albums released between 2008 and 2020: One Of The Boys (2008), Teenage Dream (2010), PRISM (2013), Witness (2017), and Smile (2020). Teenage Dream alone produced five chart-topping singles on the Billboard Hot 100, making Perry the first female artist in history to chart five songs from the same album at No. 1.

Litmus launched in the summer of 2022, and they previously purchased the back catalog from both Keith Urban and Benny Blanco before setting their eyes on Perry.

“Katy’s songs are an essential part of the global cultural fabric. We are so grateful to be working together again with such a trusted partner whose integrity shines in everything that she does,” said the company’s co-founder and CEO Hank Forsyth in a statement.

Perry’s last album Smile came out in 2020, and she’s mostly been focusing on her Las Vegas residency at the Theatre of Resorts World Las Vegas since its release.
