Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter Did Not Expect a “Bill and Ted 3”

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reveal that they never expected Bill and Ted to be a trilogy.

Bill and Ted has become something of a classic among fans of cult comedy. The 1989 movie not only has a huge original fanbase but is a hit among millennials and Gen-Zs. The idea of the franchise receiving a third and final film is therefore no surprise.

Reeves, however, has revealed that he never expected the film to receive a second sequel.

“Working on that material [1989’s Excellent Adventure], and getting to play it, I thought it was pretty special,” Reeves told Total Film. “I certainly, at that time, had no expectation that you and I would be speaking here today!”

Winter then added: “Yeah, I mean, the very first movie was made by a bunch of young, scrappy people—and pretty independently, and we didn’t really know what to expect.

“And frankly, neither did the producers. We knew it was an idiosyncratic film, so we didn’t really know where it was going to go.”

Bill and Ted Face the Music is due for release in movie theaters on August 21, 2020.
