It’s only been a year since Kehlani dropped her sophomore studio album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, and its follow-up is already on the way. She recently announced her next LP Blue Water Road and teased its release with a new single, “Altar”.

Kehlani teased the release of her next album by sharing a brief clip from her latest music video, and captioned it with the words “welcome to my world”. She also revealed the album’s title and said it will come out this winter, but she’s yet to share a specific date.

She also shared her vision for Blue Water Road on Twitter, writing: “I only want to make things that mean something to me completely void of algorithms or strategy… Approaching my 6th project, I’m not chasing anything but joy with this sh-t.”

She gave us a taste of things to come with “Altar”, and said this song is dedicated to “all those I have lost, all the angels I have gained, all those that walk with me with hands cracking my chest open.”

Blue Water Road will serve as the follow-up to Kehlani’s quarantine album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, which debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart last spring.
