Kelly Clarkson recently revealed she’s getting ready to drop a new studio album and she finally gave us a taste of things to come. She dropped not one but two brand new songs and reclaimed her spotlight with the double single “Me/Mine”.

Clarkson could’ve kept fans waiting for her new music, but releasing two songs at the same time wasn’t a coincidence. She previously said that her new album Chemistry will capture “the arc of an entire relationship”, and she wanted these two songs to do the same.

“We decided to release ‘Mine’ and ‘Me’ at the same time because I didn’t want to release just one song to represent an entire album, or relationship. There are many stages of grief and loss on this album. Each song is a different stage and emotional state,” explained Clarkson in a statement.

“Me” and “Mine” were released as the first two singles from her upcoming tenth studio album Chemistry, which will chronicle the fallout of her marriage with Brandon Blackstock. This album will hit the shelves on June 23, and it will feature a total of 14 tracks, including collaborations with Steve Martin and Sheila E. Clarkson will celebrate its release with a ten-night Las Vegas residency, Chemistry: An Intimate Evening with Kelly Clarkson.
