Top Dawg Entertainment Hosts Free “Black Panther” Screenings for Kids in south L.A

Marvel’s Black PantherĀ is the highest-grossing title in history across the United States. This past weekend, the superhero film grossed over $230 million. Critics have praised the film with positive reviews and the film was definitely worth the ‘hype’.

The film, which is directed by Ryan Coogler, centers on T’Challa aka Black Panther and his life in Wakanda. The film explores the challengesĀ T’Challa must face as King of Wakanda. It stars Chadwick Boseman as the title role as well as Lupita Nyongā€™o, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.

On Saturday, Top Dawg EntertainmentĀ (TDE), The label representing Kendrick Lamar and SZA, along with Interscope Records decided to give back to the community and held three screenings ofĀ Marvel’s Black PantherĀ for the youth of the Watts neighborhood, located in South Los Angeles.

According toĀ Variety,Ā the three screenings of the film were held at the Nickerson Garden Projects, Jordan Downs Projects, and Imperial Courts Projects. This was among the many initiatives to allow fans to see the film without ‘breaking the bank’.

Marvel’s Black PantherĀ is now in theaters in the United States and internationally.
