Just when you thought The Prom’s cast couldn’t get any fancier, well, think again!
Multiple outlets confirm that Kerry Washington has been cast in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Netflix music-oriented adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical.
The Scandal star the previously announced Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Awkwafina, James Corden, Ariana Grande, Keegan-Michael Key, and Andrew Rannells.
Per TVLine, the story centers on four-down-and-out Broadway actors, played by Streep, Kidman, Corden, and Rannells, who head to Indiana to help a gay teen whose prom was canceled when she tried to bring her girlfriend as her date.
Washington’s role has not yet been revealed.
Murphy will direct from a script by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin.
