Kevin Hart is brining back the cult hit and Christmas fixture Scrooged.

The remake of the 1988 Christmas comedy that starred Bill Murray is in very early stages of development by Hart and Paramount. The modern-day retelling of Charles Dickens’ novel A Christmas Carol, followed a greedy TV executive (Murray) who is visited by three ghosts in an effort to regain his Christmas spirit.

The original was directed by Richard Donner and co-starred Karen Allen, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Robert Mitchum.

Hart will produce the project via his HartBeat Productions and will most likely take on a starring role in the feature. The search for a writer is still on.

Hart is currently one of the voice stars of The Secret Life of Pets 2. You can see him next in the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which is slated to arrive in theaters in December.

The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news.
