Eli Roth’s movie adaptation of Borderlands has added a new star to its cast.

In the Lionsgate film, Kevin Hart will be joining Cate Blanchett’s Lilith, playing Roland, a skilled ex-soldier who has turned mercenary.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Kevin,” said Roth. “‘Borderlands’ is a different kind of role for him, and we are excited to thrill audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an amazing Roland.”

Plot details have been kept under wraps, but the film is based on the role-playing shooter game that debuted in 2009. The game has several sequels and takes place on the planet of Pandora.

The latest draft of the screenplay was written by Craig Mazin, the creator of Chernobyl.

Hart just finished production on The Man From Toronto, starring alongside Woody Harrelson and Kaley Cuoco. His other film credits include Jumanji: The Next Level, The Secret Life of Pets 2, The Upside, Night School, Ride Along, and Central Intelligence.
