Killers of the Flower Moon entered this year’s Oscars race as one of the front-runners, and it’s living up to the hype. The list of the New York Film Critics Circle Awards winners is in, and Martin Scorsese’s historical epic was crowned as the biggest winner of the night.

Flower Moon chronicles the atrocities committed against the members of the Osage Nation after oil was discovered on their tribal land. The series of murders shook their small community to its core, and the Bureau of Investigation eventually had to get involved and solve these mysterious crimes.

Killers of the Flower Moon was crowned with the best film award at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, but this wasn’t the only trophy it took home. Its leading lady improved her Oscars chances after winning the best actress award for her portrayal of Mollie Kyle.

The best actor award went to a pretty unexpected winner: Franz Rogowski in Ira Sachs’ Passages. He was joined by Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers) and Charles Melton (May December) who collected supporting acting awards for their respective performances.

Oppenheimer was also among the biggest winners of the night with two wins: best director (Christopher Nolan) and best cinematography (Hoyte Van Hoytema).
