The biographical film Spencer, based on the life of the late Princess Diana and starring Kirsten Stewart in the lead role, is coming to theaters on November 5th. The news was confirmed by the movie’s distributor NEON on social media.

Prior to the worldwide release, the Pablo Larrain-directed biopic will have its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 3rd.

Spencer follows Princess Diana during the 1991 Christmas holiday she spent with the royal family at Sandringham House in Norfolk and details her decision to end the marriage with Prince Charles. The movie, which was penned by Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight, is described as “imaging of what might have happened during those few fateful days.”

The feature entered production in early 2021 and wrapped up with filming in April. Besides Stewart, the cast includes Jack Farthing as Prince Charles, Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris.

The life and death of Princess Diana have been a subject of numerous movies, TV series, and documentaries in the past. The most prominent include 2006’s The Queen, which focused on the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death and how it affected the Royal Family, and Naomi Watts-starred Diana, which follows the last two years of Princess Diana’s life.
