2023 has definitely been Kylie Minogue’s comeback year, and she just reached another major career milestone. The Australian hitmaker hit No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart for the ninth time in her career with her new album Tension, which spawned the viral hit “Padam Padam”.

Tension was released on September 22, and it didn’t take long to soar to the top of the charts around the world. It earned 53,239 album-equivalent units in the UK alone, easily hitting No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and outselling the rest of the top five combined.

Tension is Minogue’s fourth consecutive chart-topping album in this country and ninth overall—and this is a pretty huge deal. She’s currently the third female artist with the most UK number-one albums, behind Madonna (12) and Taylor Swift (10).

Minogue celebrated her success by dancing to the beat of her song “One More Time” with the Official Number 1 Award in hand and thanked everyone who made this possible.

“Baby can’t you feel that my heart is beating .. 💎 TENSION 💎 is NUMBER ONE in the UK and AUSTRALIA!! THANK YOU to everyone who bought it, streamed it and made it YOURS … I am in awe of the love and support you’ve shown me. I will hold on to this moment forever!! ✨,” she wrote on Instagram.
