the first exciting news is that the 2019 event held at the Met in New York will be co-chaired by Lady Gaga, Serena Williams and Harry Styles. Not only were the hosts announced on Tuesday but this year’s theme as well — “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” The theme was inspired by the essay, Camp, which was published in 1964 by Susan Sontag.
The essay which according to E! describes the love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration… style at the expense of content… the triumph of the epicene style is sure to inspire a wide range of interpretations and styles.
The annual event, hosted by Anna Wintour, is one of the most celebrated red carpet events of the year. Every year celebrities and fashion powerhouses join forces to stun the world with theme-inspired ensembles.
Last year’s Met Gala was hosted by Amal Clooney and Rhianna. Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams hosted in 2017, Taylor Swift in 2016 and Beyoncé in 2013.
